Mr. Nakhorn Pornnattavuttikul, Country Manager, ZOLL Medical (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said that "Thailand's Interior Ministry has issued the Ministerial Regulation that requires an owner or occupier of *Highrise Building and **Extra Large Building, described as Public Building, to allocate an area for the installation of Automated External Defibrillator or AED. Announced in the Government Gazette on 4 June 2021, the regulation will come into force after 180 days from the day following the date of its publication in the Government Gazette, or effective from 2 December 2021. This new regulation elevates public safety, especially for all residents in the High and Extra Large buildings, emergency patients, and those who are at risk of sudden cardiac arrest. Each year, more than 54,000 sudden cardiac deaths occur in Thailand (or about 6 deaths every hour). If the AED is installed in an easy-to-reach location within a building, it will help save lives threatened by sudden cardiac arrest.

"Currently, there are more than 30,000 units of AED installed in Thailand. Still, the figures are considered lower when compared to AED units used in other countries. The issuance of the Ministerial Regulation will facilitate the widespread application of AEDs and increase the survival rate. When buying an AED, buyers should consider a product certified by a trusted global agency that comes with effective functions and a good level of after-sales services, including a product warranty. All 3 models of the ZOLL AEDs introduced in Thailand feature user-friendly designs and are equipped with all recommended features.
