Panasonic has released new research, verifying the inhibitory effect of its nanoe™ technology with benefits of hydroxyl radicals on four novel coronavirus variants, namely Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, in an enclosed 24-cubic-meter test space, which is equivalent to actual room size.

Mr. Hiroyuki Muto, Managing Director of Panasonic A.P. Sales (Thailand) Co., LTD., said that Panasonic Corporation in Japan, in collaboration with the Japan Textile Products Quality Technology Center (QTEC), has recently released the latest research related to the inhibitory effect on the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The study has verified the inhibitory effect of Panasonic's nanoe™ technology with benefits of hydroxyl radicals on four novel coronavirus variants, namely Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, adhering in an enclosed 24-cubic-meter test space.

Developed by Panasonic Corporation, nanoe™ is an electrostatic atomization technology that collects invisible moisture in the air. Panasonic has been researching this technology for over the past 20 years or since 1997.

During the latest verification test, the novel coronavirus Delta variant (SARS-CoV-2) were compared in a 24-cubic-meter test space with and without exposure to nanoe™. As a result, the test confirmed the inhibitory effect of the nanoe™ technology, with over 99% of the Delta variant were inhibited after eight hours of exposure. Note that the verification results are based on the test in a closed test environment and not in a space actually in use.

According to an opinion given by Professor Masafumi Mukamoto of Osaka Prefecture University, it is expected that the inhibitory effect of its nanoe™ technology will produce the same experimental results when tested under the same experimental conditions as this time for mutants that are expected to appear in the future.

Panasonic's latest XU-XKT Series is equipped with the nanoe™ X Mark 2 developed from the nanoe™ technology. It produces 9.6 trillion hydroxyl radicals per second, a 20-fold volume compared with that of nanoe™. Greater amounts of hydroxyl radicals contained in nanoe™ X lead to higher performance in inhibiting pollutants. These hydroxyl radicals can actively inhibit bacteria and viruses in the air, unlike standalone air purifier that needs filters to filter out viruses.
